David was born and raised in Western Australia where he completed an Honours degree in Psychology at the University of Western Australia in 1996. He moved to Queensland to complete a Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology through the USQ and worked in elite swimming in the lead up to the Sydney Olympics. Seeking a broader base of experience, he ventured into clinical roles before heading overseas to travel and follow his sporting passion. Returning to Queensland in 2007, he established a private practice working with both clinical and sport clients.
More recently David worked with returning veterans from Australia, and in Canada, helping them with adjustment back into civilian life. David has several areas of special interest including obsessive related conditions, performance, trauma, psychedelic-assisted therapy, relationship-based issues, and how judgements of our own abilities affect performance in sport, work and life.
David completed a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology in 2015 where he investigated aspects of men’s relationship health. Between 2014 and 2019 he worked as the sport psychologist with the Queensland Bulls cricket team, whilst also working 3 days per week in his clinical practice in Toowoomba. David has a range of interests including cricket, music, mountain bike riding, fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with his family.
